Kids Yoga Series by SOMAYOKE

Yoga offers delightful gifts to children. Children and tweens who nurture a regular Yoga practice learn to use breath, movement, and relaxation to soothe a tensed nervous system from the pressures of modern-day living.

Through games, breathing exercises, songs, movement and poses, meditation, art, storytelling, journaling and sharing circles, yoga frees our kids and teens from daily anxieties, frustrations, and worries. At the same time, our children pick up tools to enhance their attention, concentration, listening and learning in school.

Kids Yoga at The Yoga House facilitates a space for our children of all ages to practise grounding and calm in their mind and body. Kids also learn to build strength and mind-body awareness, which is key as they develop a sense of self and their understanding of the world around them. Immersed in themes such as Love, Kindness, Compassion and Courage, these classes aim at deepening children and tweens' relationships with themselves and others.

About Yoke Wen

Yoke Wen has journeyed with vulnerable children, adults, and families over the last 13 years as a trauma-informed social worker, trainer, and writer. She founded SOMAYOKE in 2019 to facilitate safe spaces for trauma healing for children, teens, adults, and communities.

Yoke Wen uses Yoga to support children and teens to feel safe, calm, and strong in their body and mind. She started teaching children's yoga in across a variety of settings, namely yoga studios, student care and family service centres, teen residential homes, and crisis shelters since 2018. She’s worked with children ages 2 to 17, from private sessions to large groups. It has been humbling to witness the powerful benefits, healing, and empowerment that Yoga brings for children and teens. Connecting with children has always brought tremendous joy and Yoke Wen enjoys doing this using their language - fun and play!

SOMAYOKE also offers Yoga and body-based tools to cultivate self-compassion and guide trauma healing with adults. Learn more at somayoke.com
